Regent Street

Project status: Current

Forward Swindon and Swindon Borough Council are spearheading the regeneration of Swindon town centre through important public realm renewal projects.  Regent Street, a key pedestrianised area is underway now.

The design for Regent Street aims to provide a vibrant, accessible street scene, encouraging visitors and shoppers to come to Swindon town centre as an exciting destination in its own right as well as for its many shops.  Careful use of quality materials and good detailing will provide a design which stands the test of time and provides long term value for money.

By renewing Regent Street we aim to:

• improve Swindon’s economical sustainability by revitalising the shopping area and encouraging inward investment.

• create a better shopping destination by modernising and enhancing Swindon’s pedestrian streets.

• provide a unique identity and quality environment through the use of good design, making Swindon an exciting place to visit.

• reveal cultural and heritage aspects of the street.

• build on Swindon’s environmental objectives by using locally sourced and environmentally accredited materials wherever possible.
