The highly anticipated plans for the £350 million regeneration of a key site neighbouring Swindon town centre are being unveiled this week.
A central priority for the future development of Swindon, Union Square will deliver the comprehensive and visionary regeneration of a site in between the rail station and the main shopping areas, including the bus station.
The project team for Union Square – led by Muse Developments – were appointed in 2007 following an extensive competition to masterplan the site, which is under the sole ownership of Swindon Borough Council.
Muse is now asking the public for their views on the emerging masterplan, which will include XXX new homes, high quality new offices, attractive landscaped open spaces, new local shops, bars and restaurants, a modern bus station and much more.
Doug Finlay, Muse Developments, explained that “Union Square will be an iconic addition to Swindon. Delivering a stunning new entrance to the town and revitalising and re-connecting the town centre.”
“We are now embarking on an ambitious step forward to transform this area into a thriving destination for residents and businesses. The masterplan will complement and reinforce the existing town centre, delivering new homes, new jobs, an exciting range of new facilities and improved access and transport links.”
The community is now being invited to have their say on the emerging masterplan and there are a number opportunities for you to get involved over the coming months.
An exhibition will take place on Friday 4th March at X (2pm – 8pm) and again on Saturday 5th March (10am – 2pm). At these events you will be able to view the plans, discuss the proposals with the project team and have your say.
