Swindon climbs up city rankings

Swindon climbs up city rankings – Centre for Cities charts Swindon’s growth

This year’s Centre for Cities “Cities Outlook 2014 Report”, released today, makes good reading for Swindon.

The highly regarded report shows that Swindon has moved up the scale of 64 cities analysed across the UK on a number of economic indices including innovative flair, employment and affordability. Key points below:

  • Swindon is ranked second only to Cambridge in terms of innovation – based on the number of patents created;
  • Swindon has the 3rd highest proportion of private sector employment;
  • Swindon is a growing economy and ranks 4th highest expansion in housing stock – with similar levels of expansion to “New Towns” such as Milton Keynes, Telford and Peterborough.

Clearly, independent analysis shows that Swindon has a strong and growing economy and Forward Swindon will be referring to this data to promote the town. There is a lot more information and interesting commentary within the report itself:
